Terms of Use

Effective October 22, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Daytrove for using the Daytrove app and website. By using Daytrove, you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the app.

1. What Daytrove is

Daytrove is a personal app that gives you one real-world prompt a day and lets you keep a private record of the days you lived. It is a tool for your own reflection and encouragement, not professional, medical, financial, or mental-health advice.

2. Your account

An account is optional. You can live days on your own device without one. You can create one with a valid email address and a password, or with Sign in with Apple: in which case there is no password to set, and Apple tells us only an email address, which is a relay address if you choose “Hide My Email”. If you use a password, keep it safe: you're responsible for activity under your account, and passwords must be at least 8 characters.

You must be 16 or older to use Daytrove. By using the app you confirm that you are. Daytrove is rated 16+ because it is social: you can add friends, exchange comments on shared days, and appear by name on a wall alongside members you have not added to your circle (see our Privacy Policy).

3. Your content is yours

You own everything you create in Daytrove: your dream, your notes, your photos. You grant us only the narrow permission needed to operate the app for you: to store your content and display it back to you across your own devices, to show a friend you invite the limited “lived today” signal described in the Privacy Policy, and, only if you turn on circle sharing, to show the friends you added the daily task, note, and goal described there, along with the likes and comments exchanged inside the circle. Photos are never shared. Be kind in comments: the acceptable-use rules below apply to them. We claim no other rights, and we never publish, sell, or repurpose your content.

Trees you plant for other people are different, and you should read this before you send one. When you plant a tree in a friend's grove you are giving it away. You permit us to store the tree, the date, your display name as it was that day, and the line you wrote, and to show all of it to the person you gave it to, permanently and without the ability to withdraw it: including after you cancel Daytrove Plus, and including after you delete your account. A gift that could be taken back would not be a gift.

Deleting your account still erases you from it: your name is removed and the tree is no longer linked to you. If either of you blocks the other, the name and the words are hidden in both directions. We may remove a gift that breaks the rules in section 4. You keep every other right in what you wrote; we will never publish it anywhere else or show it to anyone but the person you sent it to.

4. Acceptable use & zero tolerance for objectionable content

Use Daytrove for your own personal, lawful purposes. Don't misuse the service: for example, don't attempt to break its security, access other people's data, or disrupt it for others.

There is zero tolerance for objectionable content or abusive behavior. Whenever you post something other people can see (a comment on a friend's day, a note you choose to share with your circle, the line you write on a tree you give someone, your @username, your display name, or the picture on your profile), you agree not to submit content that is unlawful, hateful, harassing, threatening, defamatory, obscene, sexually explicit, or that promotes violence or self-harm, and not to harass, bully, impersonate, or abuse anyone. Your display name reaches furthest: it is what appears on the shared Together wall, which every member can see. Daytrove screens submitted text automatically. A picture cannot be screened that way, so profile pictures are instead limited to the friends you have added (they are never public), and every person can report any comment, picture or user, and can hide or block anyone, from within the app. Blocking is mutual, and a blocked person never appears on your Together wall. We review reports and will remove objectionable content and suspend or permanently remove the users responsible, typically within 24 hours. Report anything you think we should see at daytrove@gmail.com. By using the circle and Together features you accept these rules.

5. Daytrove Plus, and what money can and cannot buy here

Daytrove itself is free, and so is the part that matters. Every prompt, every day you seal, your notes, your photos, your friends, and the growth of your grove are free and are not behind any payment. Daytrove Plus is optional and changes only how your grove looks: which tree and which season, and a larger allowance of trees to give away. Nothing you can buy makes your grove grow faster, and nothing you can buy is required to use the app.

Subscriptions. Daytrove Plus is offered as a monthly subscription, an annual subscription, or a one-time lifetime purchase. The price of each is shown in your own currency on the purchase screen before you buy, and that screen is the authoritative price. Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.

Monthly and annual subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple Account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends. You can manage or cancel a subscription at any time in Settings → your Apple Account → Subscriptions on your device; deleting the app does not cancel a subscription. The lifetime option is a single payment and does not renew.

Apple handles the billing, and Apple handles refunds. We do not process payments and cannot issue refunds ourselves. Refund requests go to Apple under their standard policies.

If you stop paying, you do not lose anything you had. A look you had already chosen stays yours, and trees friends gave you stay yours. Your allowance for giving new trees returns to the free one.

Founding members. If you joined while the founding window was open, Daytrove Plus is included at no cost for as long as we operate the app, and closing that window never removes it from anyone who already has it.

Cosmetic items have no monetary value. Trees, seasons and any other decoration are a limited, personal, non-transferable licence to display a picture inside Daytrove. They are not property, not currency, and not an investment. They cannot be sold, traded, or exchanged for money or anything else, inside or outside the app, except through the gifting feature we provide. We may add, change, retire, or restyle cosmetic items over time.

6. What “lifetime” means, and what happens if Daytrove ends

We would rather say this plainly than bury it.

“Lifetime” means the lifetime of Daytrove, not yours. A lifetime purchase gives you Daytrove Plus, with no renewal and no further payment, for as long as we operate Daytrove. It is not a promise that the app will exist for any particular number of years, and it is not tied to your own lifetime. Daytrove is made and paid for by one person, and no honest person in that position can promise you forever. The same screen you buy it on says exactly this, before you pay.

If we ever have to shut Daytrove down:

What you are buying, and what you are not. Daytrove Plus buys the look of your grove and a larger allowance for giving trees away. Every prompt, every day you seal, your notes, your photos, your friends, and the growth of your grove are free and are not part of any purchase. Nothing you rely on is behind a payment: which is deliberate, and is why losing Plus could never take away anything you have done.

Limit on what this can cost you. To the fullest extent permitted by law, and in addition to section 10, our total liability to you relating to Daytrove Plus, including if Daytrove is discontinued, will not exceed the amount you actually paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim. Nothing in these terms removes any right you have under consumer law that cannot be waived, and if a court finds any part of this section unenforceable, the rest still applies.

7. Availability and changes

Daytrove is provided “as is” and “as available.” We may add, change, or discontinue individual features, and we may change what Daytrove Plus includes or what it costs. If we ever change which parts of Daytrove are free, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect. Any physical keepsakes (such as a printed year-in-review book) would be separate optional purchases.

8. Steps written by AI, and what they are not

Your daily steps are written by an AI model. Daytrove asks you first, on the screen where you name your goal, and you can turn it off at any time (Profile → Steps written for you). If you say no or turn it off, the steps you see come from a set that ships with the app, and nothing about you is sent anywhere for this.

When it is on, the goal you typed, the short line about what going after it looks like, and which journey you are on are sent to Anthropic, who run the model that writes the steps. That happens only when you need new steps, never more than twelve times in thirty days, and for nothing else. Your notes, your photos, your name, your email and your friends are never sent. The Privacy Policy sets this out in full.

Generated steps are suggestions, not advice. They are not medical, health, psychological, financial, legal or other professional advice, and they are not a substitute for a qualified person. An AI model can be wrong, odd, or simply unsuited to your circumstances. Read a step before you act on it, use your own judgement, and do not do anything that is unsafe for you. What you choose to do with your day is your decision and your responsibility.

We screen generated steps, cap how long they can be, and refuse ones that fall outside what this app is for, but no screening is perfect, and we do not guarantee that every step will be accurate, appropriate or useful to you. If a step is wrong or upsetting, you can swap it, and you can turn the whole feature off at any time; turning it off stops anything further being sent.

If you are in crisis, Daytrove is not the right tool. Please contact your local emergency number or a crisis line. Nothing in this app, written by a person or by a model, is an emergency service.

9. Disclaimer of warranties

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Daytrove is provided without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and uninterrupted or error-free operation. You use it at your own discretion. Keep your own backups of anything important to you.

10. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Daytrove and its operator will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of or inability to use the app.

11. Termination

You may stop using Daytrove and delete your account at any time from within the app (Settings → Cloud backup → Delete my account). We may suspend or end access for conduct that violates these terms or harms other people or the service.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of North Carolina, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute arising from these terms or the app will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in North Carolina.
